Dal Makhani is one of the most popular Punjabi Recipe they served Dal Makhani topped with butter or white cream. Dal Makhani is also known as maa di dal, urad ki dal or kaali dal. For some unknown reasons Dal Makhani tastes better on second day. Dal Makhani is served with chapati, rice and naan.

Ingredients Required:
1. One cup whole black lentils/ Urad dal
2. Half Kidney Beans/ Rajma
3. Four cups water
4. Half tsp cumin powder
5. Half tsp chili powder
6. Half tsp turmeric powder
7. One chopped medium size onion
8. Two chopped medium size tomatoes
9. One inch ginger finely chopped
10. Four- five garlic finely chopped
11. One tsp Punjabi garam masala
12. Two- three tbsp butter or ghee or oil
13. Two tbsp. full fat cream
14. Salt as required
15. Few coriander leaves for garnishing
Instructions:
1. Soak Urad dal and rajma overnight if you are making this in morning , soak in morning if you are making it in evening.
2. In pressure cooker add all ingredients including urad dal.
3. Add water and pressure cook it for 12- 15 whistles.
4. After whistles open and check if the lentils are cooked or not.
5. If you are able to mash urad dal and rajma with spoon then they are cooked completely.
6. If they are not cooked properly pressure cook again for 2-3 whistles.
7. Add water if required.
8. Now again open the cooker and let the dal makhani simmer itself in cooker without lid for 12- 15 minutes or more till you get smooty and creamy texture.
9. Add cream and let dal makhani simmer for another 5 minutes.
10. Garnish dal makhani coriander leaves.
11. Serve dal makhani with chapati or rice or naan.
