Crispy Bengali Fish Fry Recipe

Kolkata is very much famous for fish foods. Here is the Recipe of one the famous street food Crispy Bengali Fish Fry. Usually this is the famous evening time snack found in every snack shop in Kolkata.

Preparation time: 1 hour

Total time: 1 hour 20 min.

Ingredients Required:


For Marinating The Fish Fillets:


1.  Two big White fish fillets (cod, catfish, tilapia, basa)
2. One lemon
3. One cup onion juice
4. Two tblsp ginger – garlic paste
5. Half cup cilantro and green chili paste
6. One tsp garam masala powder
7. Salt according to taste


For The Batter


1. One egg
2. Half cup corn flour
3. Two cup bread crumbs
4. Oil for deep frying
5. Rock salt to garnish

Instructions:


Marinate the Fish Fillets:


1. Take 2 fillets and cup them into 4 equal sizes and again cut thick piece and slice it into 2 fillets.
2. Take all the fillets in a bowl and squeeze lemon juice on them and sprinkle all salt as required, keep aside for 1 hour.
3. Take a bowl add onion juice, ginger-garlic paste, cilantro and green chili paste, garam masala powder and mix them, take mixture and pour over fish fillets.
4. Make sure that all the fillets are covered properly and leave it for 6-8 hours.


Making the Batter:


1. Now make a batter with egg, corn flour and water.
2. Put bread crumbs in another plate.


Coating the Fish Fillets:


1. Now take each fillets and dip into egg, corn flour batter and then place on the bread crumbs and coat fillet all over the bread crumbs.
2. In a same manner coat rest of fillets and place those into plastic container keep it in refrigerator for 4 hours.


 Frying Coat Fish Fillets:


1. Heat enough oil in a pan for deep fry/
2. Remove from refrigerator and deep fry the fish.
3. Fish fries sprinkle rock salt and serve hot with salad or chutney.
